PFLAG Lexington Offers FREE Program for Parents, Family and Friends of the LGBT Community

PFLAG Lexington officially kicks off its Stay Strong Program (SSP) Thursday September 13, 2012. The SSP workshop was specifically created for family members and friends of an LGBT person. Its primary design is to provide a safe space and confidential time to ask questions and get real answers from experienced and knowledgeable PFLAG parents and friends.
The 4 week workshop will focus on:
• Navigating the PFLAG experience: learning terminology and creating a comfortable environment
• Acceptance of Self: learning through personal stories from a panel of fellow parents, family members and friends
• Relationship building: Learning through panel of counselors some ways to repair and strengthen relationships
• Advocating for support and acceptance: Learning through mock situations how to support, educate and advocate for your loved one as well as yourself
Participants will walk away with a personalized support, educational and advocacy toolkit. Sessions are evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm. A light meal and drinks will be provided.

Dates for the fall and winter four-week sessions are:
